Hiking the Bruce Trail near Tobermory, Oct 2009

Posted on: October 13th, 2009 No Comments

This is the first time we’ve been to this area of the Bruce Trail, and what a surprise! I think it’s one of the most beautiful areas in Canada. We stayed overnight at the Cedar Winds B&B, and Pauline and Bob were fabulous hosts. Although you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, their home is a very modern log cabin, with solar arrays and a windmill. Very interesting place.

We were also testing our new Nordic walking poles, and although I was a little hesitant at first, I really like them now. You can hike faster, they make it easier to get uphill, and all-round better balance. Chantal will be finishing the course soon, and will be a certified Nordic pole trainer. This all came about because of a promotion by the High Park Ski Club “Keep Fit and Brunch” program.

It was a cold weekend, and we even had snow, but it was a great Thanksgiving weekend hike.
