We went into the 3rd time-zone last night; 1 more to go. This was a quiet day, and I was very tired. These AC expeditions are not relaxing vacations, although I’ve been using the hot-tub almost every evening. I’ve also been going to the yoga classes with Martin in the mornings, when they were offered.
We’re travelling through the Baffin Island fjords, and today we landed for a short hike on Silim Island. Beautiful sunset tonight, but I promise… just the one photo.
I had dinner today with Adam, who ran the mountain bike program. He was wondering how I would compare Canadian vs. Greenland Inuit peoples way of life. That will be coming up in a couple of days.
On Day 7, we were supposed to visit Isabella Bay, Baffin Island, but because of the fog, we crossed Davis Strait over to Greenland. AC felt guilty because of this, so we had Crepes Suzette in the lounge this afternoon as a snack. Denise, the expedition director, noticed my instructor pin on my vest, so we talked about skiing, as she’s a ski instructor at Aspen in the winter. Chantal always wants to go there, so when we do, I hope to get a mountain tour a la Denise.
Tonight we had a whisky label contest, and although I think my label was the best, I didn’t win. But I voted for Rachel, because even though she had some kind of strange Bay Street motif (huh?), she said some very touching things about her grandma, who was on the trip with her.
