As a photographer and humanitarian (I say that with a BIG 😉 WINK) , I love nothing better than a street festival. When the street is closed off to vehicle traffic, people are different. They smile more, less stressed, more playful, and they love to be photographed. There’s something about a street festival, no matter the theme or city size, that stimulates people to relax and enjoy themselves.

Can’t think of a better scenario for street photography. Pedestrian Sunday is a Kensington Market event occurring the last Sunday of each month from May to October, and is one of several major Toronto street festivals. See more at

I recently discovered that my 12 year old grand-daughter, Sydney, is very much interested in photography, and I hope to take her soon to a Toronto festival to introduce her to street photography. [click on any photo to start slideshow]
