Yesterday, at a pool party, music seemed to be the main theme, especially since Ihor and Tomas were there. We got to talking about old stuff and the 1970 Festival Express, which was the aftermath of Woodstock, came up. Well, it turns out that I was there and made a few photos, as well. So I’m re-posting this blog.
I dug up a bunch of old negatives and managed to scan them with this rig I built, using my Panasonic LX3. Came out pretty good considering. Really brings back memories. Here’s a picture of my rig (click on picture for larger view).
The first photos are from the 1970 Toronto Peace Festival at the CNE Stadium, featuring The Band, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, The Great Speckled Bird (Ian and Sylvia), Buddy Guy, Eric Andersen, James and the Good Brothers, Ten Years After, Sha Na Na, Tom Rush, and more! Tickets were $16 for the 2 day festival. People were actually complaining about the high prices and police were injured by flying bricks. Read this blog. Can you imagine what that would cost now?
This concert was part of the festival express.
Then there are shots of my best buddy Myron, a very good photographer. And finally, some shots from my college days during spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
