Not exactly the movie “Nomadland”, but our version.

We started off with a week in Sauble Beach at the provincial park. This time we had quality beach time on the Canadian Riviera. Then a few days to prepare for part deux – a 3 week trip to Quebec, hopefully as far east as Percé. At least that’s the plan.

Our first stop was 2 nights on the McLaren Island campsite on the Long Sault Parkway. This is a string of tiny islands in the Thousand Islands connected by a causeway, about 20 km west of Cornwall. Then we drove to the Eastern Townships of Quebec and spent a night in Magog. Then off to Quebec City for a short visit with Chantal’s cousin Ginette and Daniel. After our visit, we drove over to Îsle d’Orleans, where we boondocked at the Église de Sainte-Famille. Boondocking is camping in a non-designated camping area.

As I write this, I’m sitting watching the tide go out on the St. Lawrence River and thinking about what Chantal said the other day. She said that time seems to be moving more slowly in Van-Life and I agreed. And that’s a good thing. And now, watching the muddy currents swirling with the gulls hovering, screeching, looking for dinner, I have a really heightened feeling of time slowing down.

More coming (maybe) … stay tuned.
